Getting started

1. Scan: Point your camera at a price tag. Tap the screen to focus, just like taking a photo. The converted price appears right over the live view.
2. Type it: No tag handy? Switch to Type it mode and enter a price by hand.
3. Your currencies: Pick one currency to read and up to three to show. Drag to reorder — the one on top is shown biggest.

Frequently asked

Does Petal work without internet?

Yes. Conversion runs on built-in and cached exchange rates, so it keeps working with no signal or Wi-Fi. When you're online, rates refresh automatically.

How current are the exchange rates?

Rates update whenever you open the app with a connection. Offline, Petal uses the last rates it saved, falling back to built-in rates. Treat conversions as a close guide rather than an exact, to-the-cent quote.

The camera isn't reading the price.

Tap the screen to focus, hold steady, and make sure the tag is well lit. Petal reads Japanese, Chinese, and Latin (Western) numerals. If a tag is stylized or low-contrast, use Type it mode instead.

Which currencies are supported?

You can read in any of a wide list of world currencies, and show up to three at once. Open the currency picker in the app to choose.

Is my data collected?
